She is focusing on her task

In a world of her own

The sidewalk glistening with care

beneath her feet.

Heading to a meeting

No words are said

I step through this scene

Knowing that there must be a story.

She did

Years of study

And yet I’m the one

going to the meeting

And she’s

Behind on the mopping.

In her own world it isn’t like this

Yet in this shared world between us it is worse

Grabbing any job to support her family.

Now with every smile a piece of her

Evaporates.

We must learn to see

Not only with our mind

But with our hearts.

There is no limit to the powers

Of hope

Or love

Combined
